Daniel's funeral was winding down.
But then, word spread that Isabella was in trouble, and everyone tensed up. The guests outside didn't dare to meddle in the Wilson family's private affairs.
Seeing the situation escalate, Atticus took charge, telling Holden and Thomas to get Isabella to the hospital.
The rest of the people kept things orderly, making sure Daniel's burial went smoothly.
Once things calmed down, they'd head to the hospital to check on Isabella.
In the brief chaos, the spot where Isabella and Olivia had been sitting became an unnoticed corner.
At that moment, a person dressed as a servant appeared, carefully picking up the shattered pieces of a milk glass.
He placed the fragments into a sealed bag and then made a call.
"Ms. Bianca Taylor, your plan worked. The Wilson family funeral is a mess, and Isabella's been rushed to the hospital."
On the other end, Bianca nearly burst with excitement upon hearing the news.
She had been waiting for this day.
"Where's Isabella? Did she lose that bastard child?"
She was eager to hear Isabella's cries of agony.
How delightful that would be.
Initially, she wanted Isabella dead.
But then she changed her mind. Death was too easy. She wanted Isabella to suffer.
To lose her most precious child at her grandfather's funeral.
She wanted Isabella to remember this pain forever.
Hearing this, the "servant" glanced at the bloodstains on the ground and said flatly, "There's a lot of blood here. The child couldn't have survived."
His task was only to "remove" the child. What happened afterward wasn't his concern.
"Excellent!"
Bianca's lips curled into a satisfied smile. "Keep an eye on the hospital. I want to know the fate of Isabella's bastard child immediately."
"Got it!"
The man replied calmly and then hung up the phone.
Meanwhile, Renee, resting in her room, suddenly heard someone shouting that Isabella was in trouble.
She hurried out and learned that Isabella was bleeding. She wanted to go to the hospital to check on her.
But being in a wheelchair, she would only cause more chaos. It was better to stay and see if she could help with anything.
As she wheeled herself out, she noticed that the once-crowded funeral now had only a few people left.
Hearing about Isabella's sudden bleeding, Renee was initially shocked.
No matter how heartbroken she was, it shouldn't have caused such severe bleeding.
Just a while ago, she had been chatting with Isabella. Though Isabella looked unwell, she hadn't mentioned any discomfort.
And later, Olivia, her best friend of over a decade, had been with Isabella. There was no way Olivia would harm her.
What had happened to cause such sudden bleeding?
Unable to figure it out, she wheeled herself to the spot where Isabella had bled.
She thought no one would be there, but as she approached, she saw a thin man in a servant's uniform crouching and picking up something.
Renee frowned. "What are you doing?"
The sudden question startled the man. Seeing it was Renee, he showed her the transparent tray in his hand.
It was filled with glass shards, still stained with milk.
The man replied calmly, "I'm a servant assigned to clean up. I saw the shards and worried someone might get hurt, so I picked them up."
His explanation seemed reasonable to Renee.
But looking at the "servant," she felt something was off.
She asked a few more questions, which the man answered well, efficiently picking up the shards and cleaning the bloodstains.
Hospital.
An hour later, Isabella was wheeled out of the operating room.
In the hospital room, Cinda rushed over, holding Isabella's hand, asking worriedly.
"Isabella, are you in pain? Does your stomach still hurt?"
Isabella instinctively touched her belly, but the once-rounded bump was now almost flat.
Empty.
Isabella's pupils shrank in shock, and as she tried to sit up, Cinda gently pushed her back down.
But it didn't ease her panic.
She desperately wanted to believe her child was still there. "Cinda, tell me the baby is fine. The baby is still inside me. He can't be gone."
In extreme fear, Isabella's voice was barely audible, but she refused to give up.
She lifted her shirt to check, convinced the baby was still there.
"Please, don't be too sad. You're still young. You can have another child."
Cinda cried, holding her down.
But Isabella, hearing those words, lost all hope.
Her baby was really gone.
The child she had longed for, whose heartbeat she had felt. How could he be gone?
Why?
Why wouldn't fate spare her?
Holden and Thomas walked in, seeing Isabella's state, their eyes filled with sorrow.
Daniel was gone, and now Isabella's only child was gone too.
The double blow was too much for her to bear.
Thomas gently patted her head, comforting her. "Isabella, Cinda is right. Once you recover, you can have another child."
But Isabella couldn't hear any of it. She shook her head in despair.
"I don't believe it!"
"Thomas, tell me it's not true. My baby was healthy. How could he be gone?"
"What happened? Tell me."
This child was her only connection to Michael. Now that he was gone, their bond was severed forever.
Thomas sighed, unsure how to break the news to Isabella, and looked at Holden.
Holden had thought the same.
They had asked the doctor as soon as they arrived. The doctor found Isabella's miscarriage suspicious and conducted blood tests.
But the results were normal.
After discussing Isabella's recent emotional state, the doctor concluded that her miscarriage was due to extreme emotional distress.
But how could he tell Isabella that?
Daniel's death had already shattered her. Now, losing her child was pushing her to the brink.
