The more Nolan thought about it, the more impossible it seemed.
It felt like Michael was just making up lies to mess with him.
He trusted Isabella; she wouldn't just be with someone so casually.
Michael, tired of arguing, smirked. "I don't have time to waste on lies. What would I gain from deceiving you about this?"
"Since you want to know, I'll tell you the truth. That guy is Emilio, Isabella's childhood friend and currently the vice president of the Wilson Group. He handles everything for Isabella."
"Plus, he's got the unanimous approval of Isabella's five uncles. They've been wanting to set him up with Isabella for a long time."
Michael said this last part deliberately.
Although he wasn't sure how Emilio was perceived by Isabella's uncles, the fact that they were willing to let Isabella go on a date with him was proof enough of their intentions.
So, Nolan couldn't be the only one feeling jealous.
Nolan wanted to compete with him for Isabella, right? How could he miss out on such news? If they were both losers in love, at least he wouldn't be the only one suffering.
He saw Nolan freeze upon hearing the news.
Michael couldn't help but ask, "Nolan, don't tell me you haven't even heard of your 'rival'?"
Nolan's face showed a hint of discomfort. He picked up his coffee cup to hide it.
"I know him."
When Isabella found out she was pregnant, she stopped managing the company and hired a professional to take over.
That person was Emilio.
Isabella had only mentioned that Emilio was a trustworthy friend.
But he hadn't expected Emilio to have feelings for Isabella too?
It was his fault for being so focused on his plans to break into the Brown Group that he neglected Isabella.
Michael's mocking voice interrupted his thoughts again.
"Nolan, I've looked into Emilio's background. I have to say he's a formidable opponent. Have you figured out how to deal with him?"
A man who could earn Isabella's trust and take over the entire Wilson Group must have extraordinary abilities.
From what he observed, the Wilson Group's recent success in Evergreen City was all thanks to Emilio's strategies.
Emilio was sharp and meticulous, with family support behind him, making him the perfect candidate for a family alliance.
No wonder Isabella's uncles were so united on this matter. They had already chosen a match for her.
As soon as Michael let go, Isabella would become his girlfriend.
Their plan was well thought out.
"This is my personal matter. How I handle it is none of your business."
With that, Nolan put down his coffee cup and wheeled himself away.
Leaving Michael alone on the couch, feeling desolate.
What he didn't say was, if Isabella truly developed feelings for Emilio, what would he do then?
If she didn't want him anymore, where could he go?
Isabella, sitting in her room, sneezed and rubbed her nose, looking helplessly at the gloomy weather outside. Was she catching a cold?
Why was she sneezing so much?
Meanwhile, the A4 papers on her desk were filled with messy sheet music, none of which satisfied her.
The more anxious she got, the harder it was to find inspiration. She put down her pen in frustration.
She had revised it three times already.
But the melody was still not good enough
She bit her lip, wanting to make changes, but the more she altered it, the more it lost its original soul.
In a fit of frustration, she crumpled the papers into a ball and tossed them into the trash can.
Maybe she was just too agitated these past few days. Every time she tried to calm down, all she could think about was Michael and Bianca together that night.
She sighed deeply.
She wanted to forget Michael more than anyone.
The repeated hurt he caused her over the years had built up her disappointment. This marriage had no reason to continue.
But why, even at this point, couldn't she stop thinking about him?
Why did he still affect her emotions?
She knew the outcome, so why couldn't she let herself move on?
He never loved her.
A deep sense of helplessness welled up inside her. Isabella held her throbbing head, staring blankly at the pile of empty papers in front of her.
Olivia had given her a tight deadline. In two months, her new song would be released.
She had to finish the remaining sheet music within a month.
Everything else was done; only the main track was left.
But for some reason, her state of mind had been terrible these past few days.
She couldn't focus at all.
Just then, a familiar voice came from downstairs. Olivia ran up to the second floor and knocked on Isabella's door.
"Isabella, I'm here to see you. Are you in there? Open the door for me, please?"
Isabella didn't say anything. She just got up and opened the door, letting Olivia in.
Seeing Isabella's lifeless appearance, the messy papers on the desk, and the piano by the window, Olivia didn't need to guess what had happened.
"Isabella, are you stuck with writer's block?"
She had already spoken to Isabella's manager on the way over.
The other songs, after Isabella's touch, were completed beautifully and had a unique style. Only the final main track was left.
Isabella, seeing that Olivia had figured it out, didn't hide it anymore. She nodded helplessly and sat in a chair, hugging her knees and staring at the half-written music on the desk.
She looked completely drained.
Olivia felt guilty. It was her fault for asking Isabella to take on this task. Isabella was dealing with a divorce from Michael. Her mood couldn't be good, so how could she find inspiration to write new music?
"Isabella, don't stay cooped up in here. Let's take a break."
Olivia, feeling sorry for her, pulled Isabella up and said seriously, "It's just a song. It's not like I can't live without it. There are plenty of people who can write it. Why not let someone else do it?"
"How about I take you out to clear your mind?"
Olivia had already planned this. She had worked like crazy to carve out a two-week vacation.
Now, she didn't want to do anything but take Isabella abroad for a good time.
With Daniel's death, Isabella losing her child, and now Michael refusing to divorce, Isabella was in a tough spot.
If she didn't get out and take a break, what if she fell ill from the stress?
"Sure, where to?"
Isabella also wanted to leave for a while. Out of sight, out of mind.
"Anywhere you want. Just the two of us. Whether it's shopping in Paris or watching the sea in the Maldives, I'll go with you wherever you want to go."
