Anna Ross walked to the desk.
She picked up the documents.
The papers trembled slightly between her fingers.

Anna gripped the edge of the desk.

Anna's heart sank to the bottom.
She had naively believed she could repay it.
Now it seemed like a complete joke.
Howard added leisurely.
"If you don't want her in jail."
"Do as I say."
"I'll keep these things safe."

Anna sneered inwardly.

He put the documents back into the bag.

Controlling this mother and daughter was effortless for him.
Anna turned to leave.
"May I go now?"

He studied her face.
"Your face is indeed beautiful."
"No wonder Adrian Sinclair is captivated."
Anna turned her face away.
She didn't want to hear such nonsense.
Howard stepped closer.
He lowered his voice.
"If you can be with Adrian Sinclair."
"I can wipe out all these debts."
Anna's expression froze.
"I'll remember that."
She walked around Howard and hurried downstairs.
Her mind was in turmoil.

How Adrian treated her now.
