The director's fingertips trembled slightly.
This young woman had recognized his long-buried debut film at first glance. Fresh out of film school back then, he'd poured his soul into that arthouse project—winning Best New Director at an international festival.
But in this era of viral trends, art always bowed to capital.
"Director first? Screenwriter first?" Felicity Valentine sneered, pressing a crimson nail against his chest. "Who cares about that these days? Fans only want to see my darling's face!"
The director clenched his fists in silence.
"Are you all deaf?" Felicity's voice sharpened. "Security! Throw this bitch out!"
The set fell deathly quiet. Crew members took half-steps back, eyes gleaming with morbid curiosity.
"How impressive."
A cool female voice cut through the tension. Olivia Valdemar entered, one hand supporting her pregnant belly as she swiftly positioned herself between Felicity and Evelyn Roland.
Fiona Valentine's expression instantly crumpled. "Olivia, I—"
Olivia didn't even glance her way. She'd just returned from a prenatal checkup and stopped by to check on Evelyn's shoot—only to walk into this spectacle.
"Careful with your condition," Evelyn murmured, steadying Olivia.
Though six months pregnant slowed her movements, fury bleached Olivia's face white. "I authorized Evelyn's access. Shall you expel me too, Miss Valentine?"
Fiona's eyes welled up. "But Evelyn started—"
"Enough!" Olivia's voice cracked like a whip. "Drop the innocent act. Stay away from my brother."
The words landed like a guillotine, severing Fiona's last shred of hope. She staggered back, nails biting into her palms.
Felicity's eyes darted between them before adopting a wounded expression. "A misunderstanding, Ms. Valdemar. Had I known Miss Roland was under your protection..." She turned to Evelyn with saccharine sweetness. "I'll do the endorsement for free—as apology."
"Unnecessary." Evelyn's smile didn't reach her eyes. "Château Blanc has no need for spokesmodels... with questionable reputations."
A deliberate pause.
"Who knows what scandals might surface tomorrow?"
Felicity's face turned ashen.
