Olivia Valdemar raised her hand to stop them, her lips curling into a bitter smile.
That smile was more heartbreaking than tears.
"Evelyn, forgive me for this unsightly display."
Evelyn Roland opened her mouth but only shook her head with a sigh.
"Howard, I've known about every single thing you've done these years." Olivia's voice was hoarse. "I never questioned the financial flows from Villa Tuscany."
She bit her lower lip until she tasted blood.
"The lipstick stains on your shirts, the perfume clinging to you—I pretended not to see." Her voice grew fainter. "All because I couldn't let go of the past."
Olivia lowered her head, the light in her eyes dimming.
"But Theodore is my line in the sand."
Her head snapped up, gaze sharp as a blade. "This marriage ends now. You'll return everything you took from me—principal and interest."
A tear traced down her cheek. She wiped it away carelessly.
"See you in court tomorrow."
Howard Merouin's face drained of color.
"Darling!" He dropped to his knees, clutching her legs desperately. "For our child's sake, give me another chance!"
Olivia pried his fingers off one by one.
"Don't touch me." Her voice was glacial. "Disgusting."
Howard collapsed onto the floor, watching his pregnant wife's retreating figure with growing horror.

Bloodshot eyes burned with rage.

In a flash of movement, Howard lunged at Olivia.

Scalp screaming in pain, Olivia was yanked backward. Two brutal slaps cracked across her face.
She staggered, hands clawing uselessly at the air.

Evelyn and Sebastian Valdemar rushed forward simultaneously.

Olivia hit the ground hard. She curled into a fetal position, sweat drenching her clothes instantly.
A spreading crimson stain bloomed beneath her.
"Olivia!" Evelyn dropped to her knees, pressing hard on Olivia's philtrum. "Stay awake! Look at me!"
Behind them came the sickening thuds of fists meeting flesh and Howard's shrieks of pain.
"Sebastian!" Evelyn's voice trembled. "Help her first!"
