The three figures stood in tense silence outside the door. Theodore's gaze flickered between Evelyn and Bianca before he finally lowered his eyes without a word.
Evelyn's sharp eyes raked over his face, her expression icy.
Her voice was frigid as she stared at the closed living room door. "How long has he been like this?"
Theodore shook his head helplessly.
"Master!" Bianca suddenly exploded. "That racing model took you three sleepless nights to build, and he smashed it without even looking!" Her fists clenched audibly. "I'm going to teach him a lesson!"
"Stop."
Evelyn raised a hand to block her. The earlier anger had faded into deep contemplation. Her fingers brushed the doorframe thoughtfully. "Something's wrong."
Sebastian's abrupt change was too sudden—too much like a post-traumatic stress episode.
But what had triggered it?
"Master?"
"Wait here."
Bianca froze mid-step under Evelyn's piercing glare.
"...Yes."
The moment the living room door reopened, the man curled in the corner jerked his head up. Wild strands of hair framed his bloodshot eyes, which dilated at the sight of Evelyn.
"Get out!"
Sebastian's roar carried the metallic tang of blood.
Evelyn remained unmoved.
"I'll kill you if you don't leave!" He clawed at his hair, his vision doubling. His sanity teetered on the edge. He couldn't let her see him like this.
"Sebastian." She stepped forward, her lab coat brushing through the wreckage. "Last warning."
A shard of porcelain flashed. She slit her index finger and pressed the bleeding digit to his lips.
"Drink."
The scent of blood hit his nostrils. His Adam's apple convulsed violently. Primal hunger shattered his restraint. He seized her wrist, fangs sinking into her flesh.
Evelyn didn't even flinch.
As the swallowing sounds filled the room, the crimson faded from his eyes. When his teeth finally released her, he collapsed against her like a boneless beast.

Before he could finish, darkness claimed him.
The two figures outside sprang to their feet.
"Master!"
"Dr. Roland!"
"Take him to the bedroom." She shook her bloodied hand and turned to Theodore. "Prepare a sedative. He could relapse at any moment."
