He responded coolly. "Yes."
Jonathan Reeves was instantly electrified. "What an honor to meet you, Mr. Whitmore! I own Elite Studio. We crossed paths briefly at the Fleur International Design Competition. Truly a privilege."
Nathaniel arched a brow. Years of dealing with ambitious men like Jonathan had honed his ability to read their motives effortlessly.
His eyes flicked to the hospital bill in Jonathan's hand. "What's your connection to the patient?"
Jonathan answered eagerly, "She's my employee. Collapsed suddenly, so I rushed her here."
"Do you routinely push your staff to exhaustion?" Nathaniel's tone carried disapproval.
"Not at all! Hiring Evelyn was a godsend. She's exceptional. Mr. Whitmore, you saw her win first place at Fleur yourself."
Nathaniel's eyes darkened. He pressed further. "Ah, now I recall. What exactly is your relationship with her?"
Jonathan hesitated, caught off guard by the personal inquiry.
Clearing his throat, he replied, "Let's just say... she might soon be my girlfriend. Things are progressing nicely."
The air turned glacial. Nathaniel's expression hardened, making Jonathan instantly regret his words.

Moments later, Victoria Sinclair stepped off the elevator, scanning the hallway for Nathaniel.
Jonathan approached smoothly. "Looking for Mr. Whitmore?"
She turned, recognizing him as the man who'd carried Evelyn in. A calculated smile curved her lips. "And you are?"
"Jonathan Reeves, Elite Studio's owner. I just spoke with Mr. Whitmore—he went that way." He extended another card.
"Thank you." She accepted it, noting the hospital bill. "Visiting someone special, Mr. Reeves? A girlfriend perhaps?"
He chuckled. "Working on it."
Victoria's smile widened. "Any woman would be lucky to have such a successful suitor. Best of luck!"
"Much appreciated." He watched her leave, mind racing with possibilities.
