With Eleanor's surgery completed, Evelyn's divorce from Nathaniel was inevitable.
Victoria's smug smirk made Evelyn's stomach twist with unease.
Evelyn arched an eyebrow, her lips curling into a mocking smile. "Victoria, darling, did you skip the property division section? Let me enlighten you—scroll to page seven."
She leaned in, her voice dripping with amusement. "Turns out, I'm about to become the richest woman in the city. Who needs a husband when you can have billions?"
Victoria's fingers trembled as she flipped to the section. Her face paled.
The document clearly stated Nathaniel would transfer all his Whitmore Group shares to Evelyn.
"This is absurd!" Victoria spat, her nails digging into the paper. "Nathaniel would never agree to this!"
If he signed this, he'd be left with nothing.
Evelyn crossed her arms, unfazed. "Oh, but he did. His signature is right there. Legally binding, sweetheart."
Victoria's breath hitched. She frantically turned to the last page—and there it was. Nathaniel's bold, unmistakable signature.
Her vision swam.
She whirled toward Nathaniel, clutching the papers like a lifeline. "Tell me this is a forgery! You wouldn’t—you couldn’t—"
Nathaniel didn’t even glance at her. "I signed it," he said flatly.
Victoria's voice rose to a shriek. "Are you insane? Do you realize what this means?"
Evelyn watched, stunned. She had the same question burning in her throat—but before she could speak, Nathaniel suddenly yanked her close.
His lips crashed onto hers in a searing kiss.
When he pulled back, his expression was unreadable. "Not your business," he told Victoria dismissively.
Victoria looked like she might combust.
Evelyn, still reeling from the kiss, barely registered her own shock. Was Nathaniel out of his damn mind?
Nathaniel’s gaze locked onto the divorce papers in Victoria’s grip. "Give them back," he ordered.
Evelyn hadn’t planned to reclaim them—but seeing Victoria’s fury, she couldn’t resist.
With a saccharine smile, she held out her hand. "Be a dear and hand it over, Victoria. That document is worth more than your entire wardrobe."
Victoria jerked away. "It’s not finalized yet!"
Evelyn smirked. "Thanks for the reminder. I’ll sign it right now. Then I’ll be the first self-made female billionaire in history." She tilted her head. "Don’t worry—I’ll send you both an invite to my victory gala."
Victoria’s face twisted.
All these years, she’d schemed to marry into the Whitmore fortune. And now, Nathaniel was signing it away?

With a snarl, Victoria ripped the papers to shreds.
Evelyn sighed. "Really, Victoria? Petty even for you."
